Doman Turner’s strong sense of colour and design is reminiscent of Spencer Gore’s Letchworth paintings completed during 1912. It seems that Turner visited the West Country sometime between 1912 and 1915 – he exhibited a view of Lynmouth at the New English Art Club in 1915.
