John Doman Turner

We are delighted that the website Art UK, the online home for every public art collection in the UK, has added at our request a biography page about John Doman Turner. This is associated with his work ‘The Joy Wheel‘ which is held by Southampton Art Gallery (but not on public display).

We also wrote an article ‘John Doman Turner: letters to the forgotten Camden Towner‘ for the website where we discuss some exciting new discoveries that we have made recently in our research, including linking for the very first time digitally, the early John Doman Turner works with the Spencer Gore written correspondence.

The article features sketches from inside music halls across London – similar to that of Spencer Gore and Walter Sickert of the Camden Town Group,

We also share some work associated with the tuition Turner recieved from Walter Sickert during his evening classes at Westminster School of Art.
